Inquisitor-General Ceonred, formerly Lady Ceonred of Llanwich, a girl of noble birth, turned devout and pious Inquisitor in the Church's service. Promoted from Purifier. Younger twin sister of Leofric.
Leofric, Cei's twin brother. His death, while fleeing a diabolist cult, led to the eventual splintering of the small band of friends on the streets of Charligan that included Ren, Bartholomew, Bobson, and Calli.
Reniel, a vagabond sailor and scrappy street fighter. Learned to fight to defend himself from a cruel and wine-sodden father, and eventually learned a unique brand of physical and mental discipline from his itinerant master.
Bartholomew, a wandering musician with a strange bent toward the magical. His parents gifted him with more than just the abilities of his bloodline. Lost his eye to the brass talons of Aiwene Bastien.
Callandra Fields, childhood friend of Cei, Leofric, Ren, Bartholomew, and Bobson, and childhood first love of two of the group. After Leofric's death, she distinguished herself as an academic and scholar despite institutional prejudice and her desperately poor background, but eventually turned to diabolism. She lured her childhood friends back to Bridge Burning by appealing for their aid, then attempted to sacrifice them to the demon-lord Gothriel. The group slew her and her followers, and freed Lyra and Cyrus, who she'd held prisoner, and lifted the centuries-old curse on Blackhall. The events surrounding her death still haunt several of the group.
Lyra, a mysterious ranger with unusual abilities. Custos to Cyrus. Descended from skin-changers and bearer of diabolist tattoos after her imprisonment with Cyrus in the Blackwall dungeons, at the hands of Callandra Fields.
Cyrus Pyrelight, an accomplished wizard, pyrokinetic and member of the Circle of Thorns. Connected with the Immortal Sentinel Gabril and His fiery power, in ways he does not yet fully understand.
Sister Sevara Grace, a clergywoman who the group encounters in the ruined tunnels under the Bastien manor. Possessed of immense power that she, as of yet, has not revealed to her companions.
Bobson (no longer with us) a street tough who grew up with Reniel, Calli, Ceonred, Leofric, and Bartholomew.
Horace (no longer with us), a paladin of the church of Aeo.
Baron Tyron Amherst, ruler of the Province of Charloss. Son to the late Baron Tytamin. So far, a capable and pragmatic ruler.
Kollin Amherst, Tyron's treasonous brother. His misdeeds were disclosed to Tyron by the party members with help from Sanction, and he was executed summarily by Tyron.
Sanction: A mysterious figure in Charligan, deemed a folk hero, dangerous criminal, vigilante, murderer, and saviour, by various factions in the city. Even their gender has yet to be determined, though they are clearly possessed of preternatural abilities. Helped the group by providing a dossier of Kollin Amherst's misdeeds, and revealed to be working with Emelius Endicott.
Warden Silas Grange: An Imperial warden who the group has crossed paths with several times, both beneath Blackhall and in the apprehending of the diabolist and prolific murderer Lord Ashur Bastien.
(Former) Purifier-General Lyonel Havikar: The late Purifier-General who presided over Cei's elevation to Purifier from apprentice nun, after witnessing an allegedly miraculous event. Oversaw both Cei and Emelius' Purifier training. Cei and Emelius both consider him an almost father figure.
Purifier-General Sosimar Kaine: Current Purifier-General. A zealous and brutally efficient Purifier, known as the Hound of Aeo. Unlike his predecessor, he acted more as adversary than advocate to Cei.
Sister Aisha: A nun of the Ordo Solatium, and the most powerful healer in the Charligan Ecclesiastes. Young and touched by tragedy, she is thought half-mad, and speaks cryptic words that could be madness or prophecy.
Emelius Endicott: Cei's only true friend in the Order of the Sacred Flame, whose wry and witty nature belies the deadly efficiency of his skills. Initially pulled from the field and enlisted as Kaine's secretary, likely to keep him close at hand. He was arrested for the murder of Faramond Wayans, another Purifier trainee, Cei's chief tormentor and would-be rapist. He convinced Cei not to intervene with the legal proceedings, then is rumoured to have been freed by the mysterious vigilante Sanction. Cei has been essentially exiled from Charligan while the manhunt for Emelius is underway.
Sir Abelard deMarcus: A Knight of the Reclamation, assigned to escort Cei on one of her Purifier assignments, an extremely dangerous and classified mission. A former noble who lost his family to a vampire attack, partly due to the actions of the then-young and inexperienced Purifier Sosimar Kaine. Sometime friend of the Amhersts. Reunited with Cei at the tourney to celebrate Tyron's coronation. Passions still clearly smolder between Abelard and Cei, though both their duties and vows forbid any expression of such.
Archmagister Jocasta: Head of the Circle of Thorns in Northwall.
Valen: Her Custos, one of the elusive Kharid people.
